Consulting: helping families…

navigating the educational and financial systems

I would start by listening to parents concerns and helping them to decide what is the best course of action to take for their child. You need to be able to comfort the parents during this process because they are unsure and even scared to think that their child is having problems in life. I have the experience to know what they are going through and can help them navigate the school system so their child can be successful in school and in life. They need to know that they are not alone in this situation and there are resources out there for them to make it easier to help their child. I would get them started in the process and guide them along the way and teach them to be their own child’s advocate. I will support parents as long as they want my help, from preschool to college if needed. I am also available to parents anytime throughout the school years, especially when the rules change in the system.

Speaking & Seminars: teaching & tools…

educating parents about their child’s rights

Giving parents the tools and educating them on their rights and their child’s rights. Teaching them ways to embrace the journey they will be taking and not to forget no matter how hard it can be at times. In the end, when you see your child getting their High School diploma you want to know you did everything you could to make sure your child’s dream come true. You want to know that you didn’t make them feel different from everybody else in a negative way. The rewards far outweigh the journey to get there. Parents need to get involved from the beginning and not to give up I will let them know and others too that they are not alone in this journey. The seminars  will have panels of resources for parents to ask questions from Attorneys, Financial Planners, alternate Insurance choices, Therapists, Support Groups, and much more. I will do speaking engagements for private groups of parents. These  are designed as small group setting to  make them more comfortable for everyone.

Information Resources: how to work with…

school districts, government agencies, support groups

The parents will have access to Support Groups and Government Agencies that can help them. It will let they know what their School District’s side of things are and know what kind of help they can expect to receive from them. There will be websites of agencies that are there to help their child succeed.  From the Department of Rehabilitation, to Social Security office for (SSI purposes), etc. Parents will get a head start in helping their child stay on the right path and learn lots of information for themselves along the way, so they can be  successful in their child’s future.

Personal History Tracking Guidebooks :

easy-to-use notebook, sample letters, websites, & more

The guidebooks will be a big help in helping parents when it comes to requesting for your child to receive a 504 Plan, or an Individual Education Program (IEP) through the school district.

The chronological notebook from Elementary School through the High School years will provide parents an organization system. It is a custom made product for them to keep important records of their child’s progress during their school years and it’s all in one place. It gives them the information so when they are in meetings with  teachers, school district reps, therapists, doctors, etc. they have everything they need to help their child move forward and get the help they need. The notebook will also provide sample letters needed to get started in getting their child tested to determine what they need help in. We also can provide parents with website sites containing  information and advice to help in the process.
